State-of-the-Art Machining Technology at PalmerPalmer Machine has recently purchased a twin-spindle Hardinge RS 65 MSY CNC Turn-Mill System. This multi-function, high-tech machine tool features a collet-ready, 30-hp spindle; super-precision linear glass scales with .00001” accuracy (that’s 10-millionths of an inch!); a 12-station turret with live tooling; and 7.45” diameter x 25.13” length and 2.0” to -1.377” Y-Axis capacities. This versatile system expands our capacity to machine very complex parts with previously unheard of speed and accuracy, even on hard-to-machine materials like nickel alloys and titanium. Multi-function machining means that your parts are finished in one operation, not two or three of four; and this translates into increased efficiency and cost savings for our customers. You can trust Palmer Machine to remain ahead of the curve when it comes to providing the latest in precision machining technology. |

Palmer Introduces Xpandrel®Palmer Machine has recently introduced Xpandrel®, a major advance in work holding technology. Xpandrel® allows for distortion-free location on an inside diameter while the remainder of the component is machined and checked, even for extremely thin-wall applications. Expanding mandrels have been around for a long time, but the Palmer Machine developed Xpandrel® provides an innovative and time-saving approach to close-tolerance machining. Like so many inventions, the idea for Xpandrel® was born out of necessity. “We needed a way to machine thin-wall parts without introducing material distortion through the holding fixture”, explains Michael Palmer. “Xpandrel® was designed in a machine shop by machinists, and it works beautifully!"
